The Centre for Factories of the Future Ltd (C4FF) is an SME located in Kenilworth, UK and is the instigator of the Factories of the Future project in the UK and supported similar developments in the EU (1984-2004). C4FF has an established reputation for developing novel manufacturing systems and software for factory management including for lean practices. They also have many years of experience in ICT and manufacturing research and development as well as instrumentation and control projects. They have developed several CNC systems in collaboration with machine tool manufacturers. Their work has led to a new Clean Diesel and Management System.

Actuate Innovation is a group of companies that has been active since 2016, aiming to identify the needs of companies and provide them with the necessary software and process solutions. The client portfolio consists of entrepreneurs, micro SMEs, SMEs and large firms. The most powerful feature of Actuate which has founders with a background of entrepreneurship, is to be able to determine the right needs and to have the team and knowledge to answer this correctly.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) is one of the most renowned Portuguese Higher Education institutions, excelling in the promotion of academic quality, the production of top-ranked science, and the symbiotic connection with a wide range of affiliated health centers and hospitals. In this context, FMUP’s proximity to the University Hospital Center of São João is of particular relevance, allowing for the existence of the Centro Académico e Clínico do Porto.
From 2015 to 2020, 174 projects were financed through competitive calls (31 with international institutions), granting a total of 28.4MEuros in funding. FMUP’s publications have aggregated a total of 56,800 citations involving international collaborations in 37% of cases. Among the various scientific areas, Cardiovascular Diseases, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Neurosciences, and Allergology stand out particularly – due to the quantity and quality of scientific production.
The institution is also most benefited from the integration of two prominent R&D Units: CINTESIS and UnIC – and from the closeness and scientific collaboration with I3S. FMUP promotes a dynamic dialogue between basic and clinical sciences and between Data Science and Health Sciences, guaranteeing a leading position in translational and clinical research in Portugal.
